BEST SHOTS OF 2020

2020, the start of COVID pandemic. But it was also the start of my photography career OFFICIALLY. I started exploring the art of photography more seriously and thanks to these wonderful creatures for gracing my camera lens and showing that everybody can be a model (in real life and in camera)

Anyway, here are my personal picks of who stood out in 2020. The list is randomize. Have a look:

1. VIELLA

Adrienne Viella Cayaba is a smart young woman from Poblacion Sur, Gregorio del Pilar, Ilocos Sur. We walked more or less 20 minutes just to reach a stream where we conducted the photoshoot. She was natural and my camera loved her.

2. AIDAN WORTH

April 2020, Online Pageants, Searches, contests became the new trend and if my memory doesn’t fail me, this photo was our entry to an online search for top model (or something like that). Our barangay (Matue) is situated near a river so we gathered our costumes, make-up kits, and voila! Say hello to Serpentina!

3. VIANNEY AND KOKOY

These two boys are from Burgos, Ilocos Sur. If I’m being honest, this was a result of envy. I was jealous (yep, and that was not healthy, everyone!) of a fellow photographer having a bunch of models in their photoshoots so I thought maybe I can pull-off my own photoshoot similar to theirs.

Fun fact: Kokoy joined just to try it, according to the other guys. He was shy at first, uncomfortable of showing off to the camera, but as you can see, naitawid naman niya.

4. PATRICK

Oh, Patrick!

I didn’t know Patrick personally before this photoshoot. He was just recommended by a former student of mine when I was scouting for new charmers. At first, I didn’t want to contact him and invite him for a funshoot. I was kinda intimidated, skeptical, and hesitant because I might be turned down in the most hostile way possible. But it really is true that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Because contrary to my impression, he was (and is) actually the gentlest man I’ve ever met. He was soft-spoken, all-smiles, and hindi mareklamo.

Thank you, Patrick, for allowing my camera and my viewers to have a sight of your pandesals. Hehe!

5. ALTHEA

Althea was one of the models from Burgos along with Kokoy, Vianney, and more. Kung ‘di niyo natatanong, one of the greatest joys of a photographer is having a model na hindi maarte. She was a natural, as well. She follows her own instincts and does what she does. 

6. ELMAR

Elmar might be one of my favorites. Period. Yeah, bias! Haha.

7. RIDGE

Ah, my bestfriend (which a lot of people assume to be my boyfriend. ew)

He’s not ew, just the idea that people are shipping me with this man. Charot!

Anyway, sinong single diyan? Kayo na manligaw diyan kasi torpe ‘yan, di marunong manligaw. Kinakabahan na ako, baka tatandang binata na ‘yan. Haha!

8. WAREN

The darling of the crowd, charr! No, but seriously, he kinda is! He, together with Elmar, boosted my Facebook page’s engagement astronomically! You’ll find out why in the next picture.

9. WAREN AND ELMAR

This is still my favorite picture out of all the photos I’ve taken. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the photos I took but this picture just hits different. Somehow, you can feel emotions coming out from the photo. The facial expressions, the angle, the colors and tone, everything. It’s not perfect, yes, but I can not stress enough how much I love this.

10. KELLY SHANE

Kelly Shane looks sophisticated in her short hair and red coat. Gandang-ganda ako sa mukha ng batang ‘to, sa totoo lang.

11. VIELLA

This was the second layout with Viella. She’s portraying Princess Ahmanet played by Sofia Boutella from the movie The Mummy starring Tom Cruise.

12. JUSTIN

Sweet little boy, Justin, has a future in modelling if he pursues it. I cannot say much about him aside from appreciation for him being humble even though he knows he’s good-looking.

13. LUIVIE

Naol, vavaihan! This concept was inspired by Maria Mercedez. Soultry, hot, sweet, sexy.

14. DEXON

Inaway ako ng isang accla dahil dito sa photoshoot na ‘to! Charot! Eh kasi naman, di sinabing crush niya pala ‘tong lalaking ‘to, eh di sana ako na umiwas. Emss! Pero wala naman kasing problema dahil photoshoot lang naman ang ginawa, ba’t kailangang ipagdamot? 😂

15. CARLO

Carlo, the hot car washer.

Fun fact: this concept was not planned pero dahil umulan nang bongga at ‘di kami makapag-shoot sa labas, ginawan nalang namin ng paraan at sa nakaparadang kotse nalang sa covered court kami nag-shoot.

16. MYDENN

When I shoot with Elmar and Waren, Mydenn and Dessie were also there. The initial concept was to portray a life of modern teenagers in a recently-plowed rice field. The BL churva was just me being a fan of BrightWin and MewGulf. Charizz!

17. DESSIE

Morena beauty from the uplands. Dessie Lou’s beauty is natural and effortless.

Don’t ask if she’s single and ready to mingle coz I don’t know. Haha!

18. JUNELLE AND RICKY

This particular shot was inspired by yet another BL movie called ‘Call Me By Your Name.’

19. KELLY SHANE

Jessy Mendiola-inspired look. Kelly Shane proves that she can rock in any haircut.

20.  DARREN BRUCE

Can I confess? Charot! ‘Wag nalang pala. Next time nalang.

Bruce is someone who knows how to get something if he likes something.

21. JOSHUA

Joshua, Joshua, Joshua!

Simula nung nagka-jowa ka, nakalimot ka na. Charizz!

22. DEXON

Dexon was one of those boys who replied “hanko ammo ag-pose” when I first invited them for a funshoot. Nahihiya daw kasi ‘di alam ang gagawin, o ‘di kaya wala daw susuoting maganda. But with little encouragement (and of course, nagpatulong po tayo sa chix para i-convince siya), he agreed to do it and voila! One of the best close-up shots in my portfolio.

23. FRANCES LAURA

Someone commented, “Kasla gatangena amin a pagayan a malabasanna.” She sure looks like it, tbh. Mukha siyang anak ng matapobreng mayaman na sasabihan ka ng, “Here is 1 million cash, take it and get away from my daughter!” Charot! 😁

24. RUDY

Rudz is a star and she knows it. She has what it takes to be one. Confidence, poise, with a little bit of spice.

25. JARED

We took this photo at night with only a ringlight as the source of light. My brother, Jesch Andrei, painted his (Jared) face and body with black body paint then with gold. Jared’s eye colors were just edited to match the colors in his face and body.
